We Don't Bite Friends

Just our sisters....

Wednesday

A lot of you have probably seen Harry Potter. Some of you may have even seen it at midnight. But did any of you see it in a D-Box motion seat? We did.

This is just the demo, but our seats looked like this.

And did anyone else eat these ribs afterward? Too bad everyone can't be us...

Kansas City Style Ribs
For each rack -
1 C brown sugar
1/2 C sugar
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp ceyenne pepper
1 tsp garlic salt
1 tsp montreal steak seasoning

Pick a med-large rack of pork back ribs and, if making more than one, pick similar size racks. 1 rack feeds 2-3 people. Put rack in deep, foil lined pan (1 inch or deeper). Rub mixture on rack and pack it 1/2 inch thick on top, add 1/2 C water around ribs and add half a capful of Liquid smoke to the water. Cover with foil and put in oven at 250 for about 8 hours (or until meat is pulling back on the bone about 1/2 inch). Brush on Famous Dave's Sweet and Zesty BBQ sauce. With barbeque on low-med, put rack on meat side down and WATCH CAREFULLY for about 5 minutes (just want to make slightly crisp on outside). Keep basting with BBQ sauce and serve with even more BBQ sauce. Voila!

We weren't the only ones excited about our day...

Yes, Ben C. that is your ball. Please let us know if you would like it back...

Independence Day

Ryan and I spent the 4th in Alamo, NV-population 2,000. Only in a small town can you find: a Brazilian to speak Portuguese with, 2 families from your ward, spend time in a non air conditioned school gym, have people apologize because they don't know you, and have a fireworks display directly above your head after the fireman help the neighbor hose off his house. (Mostly, you just have to be there)

(Since I know you want to know-Rachel slept through fireworks and Adam seemed frightened, but never cried-this was a surprise.)
We had a great Independence Day together, and even though we concluded we can't live in a town without a Wal-Mart-we definitely love visiting one. Thanks Matt and Misty for a great time!

PS-I am still working on the posts I teased you about earlier. Don't worry.

Meet Me in St. Louis

On Father's Day we flew out to St. Louis to spend the week with my whole family; including my gma and the newest cousin-Gracie the dog. In addition to these events:

Someone fell down these stairs. Someone named Rachel. I won't say whose fault it was. There were 5 adults standing nearby-but I think we should blame Ryan who was sleeping upstairs instead.

we spent our time avoiding the heat by: swimming, going to 2 movies (Up/Night at the Museum), entertaining 3 babies, entertaining 4 big kids, mega squirt gun fights, celebrating Tate's 5th birthday, staying up late planning funerals, and eating ice cream.

Other Moments in Salt Lake

We were in Salt Lake from June 10-16. Other than a wedding reception, family pictures, a birthday party, and a trip to the doctor, these are some things we did:

The Swine Flu, or Para Virus B?

Soon after arriving in Salt Lake, my kids came down with a bad cold. Their main symptoms were fever and cough. They were acting fairly normal and happy so we went ahead with our regularly scheduled events.
Sometime in the week we found out that my nephew in Detroit caught the swine flu. His symptoms were a fever and a cough. So the bells started going off that possibly our kids might have it and what if we just exposed the whole world at the wedding, bday party, and church?
So even though it was their official first birthday, we trudged down to Children's Hospital to get the test. I actually didn't mind. There was something quite fitting about being in the place where it all started. I didn't even mind when the nurses came in to do the procedures-because it wasn't a blood transfusion or a breathing tube, or a brain scan. We certainly have come a long way...
It took 24 hours to get our results. In the meantime we started the kids on tamaflu and warned the most fragile of people we had been around to beware the swine flu.

The result? Some Para something virus B. Translation=a bad cold. We are grateful for this outcome since we didn't want to have to put the entire Salt Lake area in a panic, but honestly I think the virus they had was worse!

All are healthy and fine now by the way. Hopefully you are too :)

They are One!

Adam and Rachel had their birthday while we were in Salt Lake, so that's where we had a party for them. It was nice to have so much family in town. Thanks for coming everyone!

My mom stayed up till 1 am decorating these--but if Adam and Rachel ask-I'm the one who made them :)

Family Photos at Wheeler Farm

This is the second photo shoot my friend, Katrina, has done for us-thanks for making us look good! We went to Wheeler Farm in Salt Lake-the only time all week it didn't pour rain. I am soo glad we didn't have to cancel and go inside. I highly recommend this place- there was a Kodak moment at every turn.
