Election Night

 Floyd, Ryan, and 2 future candidates at the Independent American Party election night party. They were both happy with their percentage of votes, and Ryan is especially pleased that he beat "none of the above." Maybe next year he can get 5%

Halloween Part IV: All Hallows Night

Don't you love how this ghost decided to come get in our picture?

Since this was our first Halloween at this house, it was hard to know how much candy we should get. Based on the number of adolescent boys who play basketball outside on a daily basis-we got a lot. It was too much. But we had a really good time anyway as you can see. And we actually like our neighbors. We actually know their names and talk to them. So it was a good night. And I have to add that even though WE know our kids are cute and special--it's really nice to hear it from someone else. And I have to admit that I am not at all humble about the fact that it's fun to get EXTRA candy because I have cute twins.

Halloween Part III: Ward Trunk or Treat

Lions, and Tigers and Bears, Oh My!

It was a normal ward activity. We had chili and hot dogs and we passed out candy from our trunk.  But it was fun to come up with how to make Ryan into a lion within 2 hours (we don't procrastinate around here or anything) and it was fun to hear Adam exclaim "I did it!" after every car. He was so proud to put candy in his basket. And it was fun how Rachel asked for more candy before she even finished what was in her mouth. And it was fun for me to be able to get away with such a minimal costume!

Halloween Part II: Pumpkins at Trader Joe's

Gma and Gpa found the perfect way to carve pumpkins: Go to Trader Joes and pick out a free, pre-scooped out pumpkin. Then draw on it to your heart's content and let some poor high school volunteer cut out every detail of your pumpkin face. 

 To make it even better-ask the firemen to give you a personal tour of their fire truck.

Sidenote: We live really close to the fire station and now every time we pass it Adam says hi to the "fire house"

Halloween Part I: Springs Preserve

Friday the 29th we went to the Springs Preserve for a Halloween Party. The kids got their first real experience of trick or treating...it was a hit. Normally I have hold them at every new place and reassure them several times that what we are doing is fun. But this time every time one of them got a little antsy all I would have to say is, "do you want more candy?" and off they would run like we didn't exist.

The culminating event of the night was when we were walking to the parking lot and passed a man dressed in black sitting at the bus stop. Rachel reached out and touched his coat with one finger. She thought it was a zombie or vampire or something but leapt into my arms the minute he turned around and said "hello!". The trick was on her I guess.
