Thanksgiving Week

We had a great week celebrating Thanksgiving with Gma, Gpa, Uncle Jeff and Aunt Jill. From the looks of these pictures it may look like we did nothing but celebrate Christmas. Technically, that might be true, but we did have pie and turkey and we celebrated Christmas very THANKfully.

There's nothing like an aunt and uncle to watch "Elf" with, or wrestle with, or read with, or get a piggy back ride from.

We went to the Bass Pro Shops because we heard it was a great place to meet Santa. We were half right. It was a great place to meet Santa at night--too bad we were there during the day. But we found plenty of other things to do.

With so many babysitters around, Ry and I took advantage of the chance to go to Del Frisco's steak house. We enjoyed lobster tail and fillets and chateau potatoes, but mostly I think we enjoyed the mints in the bathroom. Ryan was disappointed I didn't let him smoke a cigar on their "smoking patio", but I think he's forgiven me. We didn't get any pictures of the night, but a few days later at Opportunity Village, we discovered some friends of ours who like to eat there too.
We went to Opportunity Village Thanksgiving night. It was the perfect time to go. Especially since there were no lines for Santa, or more importantly-the TRAIN!

I'm very surprised we got both kids to sit on his lap, but I'm so glad we did!
I tried to prep the kids for what meeting Santa was like. To this day if you say, "What do you want for Christmas?" they will answer, "Cars! Trains! Babies! tell Santa!"

Add One More-But it will be worth it

My friend started a new blog: Trust in our Savior. Yes, it's marketed toward those of us who didn't get our children here exactly the way we wanted, but I firmly believe it will benefit everyone. So add it to your readers and your facebook page and everything else that you do.  Happy Reading!

Friday Night

Ryan's family is full of golfers. But Ryan and I do not fit the bill. Mini-golf is more my style. And a course close to our house full of jungle animals and black lights? And two year old sized clubs? It was great. I stupidly thought I could keep my score, but after the 5th time of my shot banking off of Adam's foot and Rachel politely picking it up and saying, "Here you go, Mama!" I thought this time should probably be "just for fun"

And it was!

You Would Think...

You would think that when our friends told us they were building a house we would have offered to help them out of the kindness of our hearts. But we didn't. We went because we got to help BUILD A HOUSE. And that's just cool. And it was. Plus 2 days without the kids? Time spent with friends that we love? Totally worth the freezing weather and lack of hot chocolate on the job site :)

See all those walls? We put them up. We asked if we could carve our initials into one of the beams, but apparently that would have been frowned upon.
And we saw this wreck on our way home...I got frowned at by another bystander for taking a picture, but we made sure the driver was okay and the ambulance was on its way first--

O Christmas Tree

After seeing the kids get so excited every time we went to Costco to see the Christmas trees, I consented to put ours up already (Ryan has never loved me more)...I love the Thanksgiving traditions, but you have to admit--these pictures are a lot more magical than those of two year olds covered in gravy...
