6 Months

Our kids are 6 months old. I can't believe it!
(They actually interact now...sort of. Adam definitely smiles and talks to her, and they suck on each other's hands without even knowing the difference.)

Adam:
  • is sort of a Mama's boy...I love it!
  • Rolls Over (sometimes)
  • Smiles a lot
  • Is starting to laugh
  • Still loves music (esp. his butterfly toy)
  • Loves Books
  • Loves Car Rides

Rachel:

  • is an Angel!
  • She goes to sleep on her own all day!
  • Always wakes up happy
  • Sucks her thumb...a lot
  • Loves to talk with you
  • Kicks her legs in excitement big time
  • Is definitely a Daddy's girl
(She stuck her thumb in and fell asleep right in the middle of taking pictures.)

I am definitely at that point where I go to bed at night extremely grateful. I can think of very few complaints about life right now. We have truly been blessed.

Something Different!

Thursday I got the worst night of sleep I've had for a long time. But my kids had nothing to do with it. It is because I went to see the midnight showing of Twilight....It took me all day Friday to recover and I went to bed at 8pm. . .and it was soooo worth it.

dinner at Friday's beforehand

5 months

I have typed and erased 3 posts already. It's because life is pretty normal and boring around here and there's not much to say...but I consider that a huge blessing!

So just a quick update for posterity's sake:

Adam:

  • has slept through the night twice in a row

  • smiles a lot

  • loves musical toys

  • is a mama's boy who has to be held a lot

  • is just over 12 lbs and growing by the minute

  • loves baths and hates diaper changes
  • sucks his thumb and fingers

Rachel:

  • sleeps a lot (if I just had her I would never be tired)

  • is content and happy most of the day

  • loves to swing

  • only screams when we put her to bed at night for a few minutes

  • loves to be talked to

  • is just over 10 lbs (she grows long, not out)

  • is ignored more often than I would like because of her demanding brother

And now what really matters; Here are some pictures:

or not, because I have tried 5x to post them and it hasn't worked. The ones on the sidebar are going to have to be good enough.

We Love Visitors

The kids loved meeting their Great Aunt Kay and Uncle Milt. We had a nice afternoon together. Thanks for coming!

Also, Adam had a very nice relaxing bath...almost too relaxing. He really is asleep.

Christmas Season Eve

AKA...Halloween...
If you don't know what we are dressed as-then you had a deprived childhood and don't deserve to know...

We went to the ward trunk or treat...the kids were so sound asleep people wondered if they were real...I invited them to come over at 3 am and find out for themselves.
We had a great night together and felt like a "real family". Now Ryan is humming Christmas music and I am putting up more Thanksgiving decorations in protest.

More Friends

We were privileged enough to have our friends Royce and Heather come visit us this weekend! Despite the fact that our kids have a minor cough/cold, they were nice enough to let us:

  • Go get donuts
  • Catch up on Office episodes
  • See HSM3 (Ryan didn't go. I took advantage of the fact that I had people who would actually enjoy the movie to go with)
  • Go to lunch (I ended up with water and BBQ sauce all over me. Which is slightly better than spit up and urine, but it proves that getting out of the house does not equal that I can stay clean.)
  • Visit Target
  • Carve Pumpkins while watching
  • The Wizard...those of you who know this movie will understand. It is awesome. We actually had a hard time finding where to rent it. We had exhausted just about all of Las Vegas with no luck of finding it. Then I realized that it might be on our paperview channel. It was. We were so excited. Then later that night while flipping through channels we discovered that it was on abc that night! Crazy.
  • Some of us also visited the Golden Nugget. Some of us stayed home with crying babies. I'll let you guess who that was.
  • Ryan was also nice enough to stay home from church to babysit so we could go.

So I'm sure you can tell that we are sad to see them go. I guess we have to get back to real life...

Blessed

It's official. The kids were blessed on Sunday, October 12. The day went very well, and we appreciate everyone who came to celebrate with us.

Hello!

We have been making a lot of introductions around here. We had some great company when our friends Katrina and Blair came to visit with their baby Ella. We're hoping their next meeting goes better :)

Here we are with Ryan's grandparents. And Rachel is being held by her great Gma Rachel

And all the way from Detroit, we were so happy to have this clan:

Cousin Annette
Cousin James
Cousin Tate
Uncle Kevin
Aunt Emma
and from MO:

Uncle Eric

The kids enjoyed all of the interaction. They haven't had this much attention in weeks!

Thanks for coming everybody! We miss you!
