7 months

As you can probably tell, we've had a lot of big things to recover from. So it was almost bedtime when I remembered that these girls were 7 months old! So here is our makeshift, real life, bedtime photoshoot.
Things are quite different around here since last month. We've had to add rice cereal to Erica's bottles, and she has chubbed up quite nicely. (Both in 6 month clothes). They both are on solids and so far the favorites are squash, sweet potatoes and peas. No teeth yet, but congestion and lack of sleep lead me to believe they are coming. Not sitting up, but definitely both are training to crawl. Knees are up and scooting and rocking have commenced. Although nothing has been quite so entertaining as Erica's toe/headstand position. One of these days she will actually flip right over. I will post a video as soon as I get around to it. Brooke continues to be a happy and easy baby. Erica is happy and playful as long as she gets enough sleep. Which means we have entered the "can't go anywhere because it's better to sleep in our cribs". Oh, and we have set up the second "crib." It's a porta crib, and is small, but we got a good mattress for it, and it fits perfectly in the room, so hopefully it will last through toddlerhood. Even though these babes are still pretty small (14 lbs ish), I keep seeing newborn babies and feeling sad that my girls are so grown up.

Five!

I wasn't going to throw them a party. I figured the sleepover and presents and dinner would be good enough. But then, I realized. My kids are going to be FIVE! And that is a big deal. Back when they were babies I kept dreaming about the day they would be five. "Will I be able to sleep then?" I remember wondering. Oh, little did I know. I did great all day. We had breakfast doughnuts, and the best makeshift rainbow party I could pull off, and a bike riding session, and swimming and dinner and bowling. And then...in the quiet, wrapping paper filled, exhausted moments before bedtime-it hit me. These were the last moments of this monumental birthday. I didn't want to miss them. So we had a story, and tears, and cuddles. And I told my kids all about the day they came into my life. And now I just have to remember to not let my babies' fifth birthday come this fast. And I'm still wondering, if 5 years from now, when I have 2 10 year olds and 2 5 year olds, "Will I be able to sleep?" And I think we all know that answer to that.

Birthday Eve

I didn't mean to let the kids have a slumber party for their birthday. But somehow we ended up with a small one. It was actually a party for the grownups. We sent the kids out to have a movie night and the adults ate pizza and played games. Then the girls went right to sleep and the boys...eventually fell asleep :) So here they are on their last night of being 4.

Through the Generations

Of course while in Utah, we had to go and see our Grandpa. This is his first time meeting the babies. It was a great day--feeding squirrels and birds, rocket launching, temple square and swimming with cousins. If Ryan's phone hadn't also gone swimming, it would have been the perfect day!
