And they're off...

I could tell they were nervous, but we stayed positive and they know two kids in their class so I think it will be just fine. I can't wait to hear the report in a little bit. But I'm mostly excited to enjoy the peace and quiet!

School Days

It's the night before kindergarten in our house. Oh my word. I am going to try to hold my emotions until tomorrow, so I better just post these pictures of the stuff we've done to get ready:

I'll take pics tomorrow but we have our backpacks and school supplies:

Haircuts: Normally I would have just done them at home, but since our air was out and Rachel needed a good one, we went to Super Cuts...

And we met our teacher:
Mrs. Rhynes, pm (11:40-2:10)

This is just a few snapshots outside of school--

Bonus points if you know who is behind them :)

RachE

So these are some things Rachel has been saying this week: What the heck???

"I don't like being me. Are we ourselves forever and ever." "It's because it's boring being me. I don't like getting my hair done."

The next day:

"I don't like being me still..." Something else I can't remember that prompted me to ask--
"Do you like our family?"  Her response, "I love you, but I feel weird about it."
"What do you feel weird about?" "I feel weird about our house. I wish we had a different house."

Then today,
"I don't like being me because of my teeth. Some are soft and some are hard."

Okay??? Weird and unpredictable. That's our Rach E!

Wubby

In between all the craziness this week, Adam had his special day. It wasn't as great as going to Disneyland last year, but we still managed to have some fun.

We hung out with our sisters...

And saw the movie Planes (Rachel came and said it was a boring boy movie. I said too bad).

And had chicken nuggets for dinner (gourmet, I know)
Adam didn't care that we didn't do anything much, but he was happy to have his interview and to put a new handprint on the growth chart (not pictured).

We sure love our snuggle wubby!

AC

So I was at a meeting Tuesday night and Ryan texted that the AC was out. We have a friend in the biz so we called and determined it was the compressor. So then it was a matter of going through the home warranty company. Which is always a pain. And slow.
Tuesday night was not all that bad. We had ceiling fans

Wednesday we just did normal errands: Gym, library, swimming, friend's house
Even Thursday wasn't too bad: children's museum with a friend, a playdate, dinner out....and then, oh then, my poor sweet tolerant babies who had every single nap in their carseats for 2 days...fell apart! They screamed and screamed. So...we came home. And put them to bed. And it was hot. And we were all tired.
But...at least the warranty company approved this little baby that we rigged in our kitchen. It made a 3 foot square of cold air. So Friday it was tolerable.
We stayed home and did laundry. And then went to the school and got haircuts. Then...it was hot. But there was relief--the air was going to be fixed Saturday morning! Until...they called and said they got the wrong part and it would be Monday. Cue the crying family. Cue the hero father who called and (politely) yelled and threatened. Cue us escaping to the ward activity in the mountains. And cue the cowering ac guys coming to fix it after all. Relief!
Even though I had a few moments of panic and meltdowns during this process, it really wasn't horrible and I'm grateful for the many many many offers of help we received. I am grateful for family and friends who offered houses and food and fans.
