Soon after arriving in Salt Lake, my kids came down with a bad cold. Their main symptoms were fever and cough. They were acting fairly normal and happy so we went ahead with our regularly scheduled events.
Sometime in the week we found out that my nephew in Detroit caught the swine flu. His symptoms were a fever and a cough. So the bells started going off that possibly our kids might have it and what if we just exposed the whole world at the wedding, bday party, and church?
So even though it was their official first birthday, we trudged down to Children's Hospital to get the test. I actually didn't mind. There was something quite fitting about being in the place where it all started. I didn't even mind when the nurses came in to do the procedures-because it wasn't a blood transfusion or a breathing tube, or a brain scan. We certainly have come a long way...
It took 24 hours to get our results. In the meantime we started the kids on tamaflu and warned the most fragile of people we had been around to beware the swine flu.
The result? Some Para something virus B. Translation=a bad cold. We are grateful for this outcome since we didn't want to have to put the entire Salt Lake area in a panic, but honestly I think the virus they had was worse!
All are healthy and fine now by the way. Hopefully you are too :)

They are One!
Family Photos at Wheeler Farm
This is the second photo shoot my friend, Katrina, has done for us-thanks for making us look good! We went to Wheeler Farm in Salt Lake-the only time all week it didn't pour rain. I am soo glad we didn't have to cancel and go inside. I highly recommend this place- there was a Kodak moment at every turn.
The Big Day
Jeff and Jill officially got hitched on June 20. It was a great day and everything ran smoothly as far as I could tell (of course I'm not the mother of the bride so what do I know). It was so nice to meet Jeff's family and we are so glad to have him as a brother...welcome to the family Jeff!

Sorry we don't have too many pictures...that's what copyright laws are all about :)

The Cube and Other LA Adventures

So Ry and I tried to come up with a wedding present that would be fitting for his only sister. The only thing we could come up with did not come from Target or Bed Bath and Beyond. And what makes an event even better? To make it a surprise. So we kidnapped the bride and groom 3 days before their wedding and drove them to LA...but we didn't go to Disneyland--well, at least not right away. Thanks to Ryan's internet research and persuasive talent, he found a connection to get into Club 33--Disneyland's most famous secret. In order to get in though, we had to rent some guy's limo first. So we rode in style and spent the morning at The Cube--which is a really cool Discovery Museum. I highly recommend it. We then spent a leisurely afternoon dining at the Club and then running around the park to fit in the best rides before we dropped dead from exhaustion. The whole event took 24 hrs-even though I keep telling myself we are done doing DL in one day.
