Spring Cleaning

Ryan and I have been very busy this week. I guess you can say we are "nesting" but most people would probably just consider it spring cleaning.
We have:
-attempted to change the light bulb in our ceiling fan. This unfortunately led to a trip to the ER (for our friend-not either of us. Still not sure if this is a good thing or not :) The glass cover shattered in his hands leading to 11 stitches. (Warning: do not look at pics if you get queasy over the sight of blood)

-ordered a new bookshelf because apparently I can't stop visiting amazon.com
-made backup cds of my itunes
-put our treadmill for sale on craigslist (ok, not yet, but it will be there in the next few days)
-fixed the brakes on our taurus...a/c still needs work
-cleaned our carpets and the kitchen tile
-cleaned out almost every cupboard/closet in the house.
This has resulted in us rediscovering some old treasures:
-an unopened 1999 phone bill
-Ry's Bulls jacket from 6th grade complete with Christmas caroling music on the inside pocket-he was so nice to give it up since I wouldn't ever let him wear it in public anymore
-Some of you may remember these house rules that were posted at our first apartment
-and this personally designed invite to the best Halloween Party ever!
Thank goodness for our new vehicle that was stuffed to the max to help us bring stuff to the DI. (FYI- in the 2 weeks we have had it, our Expedition has successfully completed its first road trip, aided in 2 moves, and survived its first trip to Costco.) Also thanks to the kind servicemen who took away our huge stack of garbage bags full of stuff we used to think we couldn't live without.

I am very very proud of my husband who normally would have fought me tooth and nail on every decision. He was tossing things left and right! I, however, did shed a few tears over the college papers/notes I parted with.

The result of our labors? -a very happy organized wife and a babies' room almost all ready for the babies! Our next stop? Babies R Us!

2 Babies and a Wedding

You might not care unless you were there, but here are some pics of the wonderful wedding of our fabulous friends, Royce and Heather. It's not very often you get to support both the bride and the groom. And they're definitely winning the Christmas letter this year. The rest of you better step it up!

So good to see all of you!
And...since I know you are dying to see-here's some current pics of A and B--

That blob on the right is A's head btw. Do you think they need more room?

Don't Bet on It

Our kitchen, Sunday, 3pm: (names will not be used to protect the ignorant)

Spouse A opens dishwasher to pull out cereal bowl. A fumble ensues followed by an unbelievable kick save before bowl reaches the floor. "Did you see that amazing save?" exclaims said person.
Spouse B smiles and nods but is not that impressed. "It wouldn't have broken from that height anyway."

A: "Yeah right. It's chip-resistant, not chip-proof."

B: "Go ahead, drop it. Let's see if it breaks. I bet it doesn't." It took about 3 more "I'm serious go ahead and drop it" looks before Spouse A holds the bowl at counter level and lets go:

B calmly stands, reaches for the broom, cleans up, then reaches for a new bowl from the dishwasher. "Let us never speak of this again."

"Hi Family"

This is who we spent Easter with. There is no use talking about how wonderful these people are because it wouldn't do them justice. But I do have to say that they better enjoy the attention now, for soon they will not be "our favorites."

Ways I know that Ryan is excited about the babies:
1. He is appalled if I am watching a birth on tv when they only have one baby. "What's so special about them?" He retorts.
2. His greeting for the day is no longer, "Hey, Wife." Rather it goes something like this, "Hi Family. It's good to have you with us today."

I agree. It is good to have our family (any of them) with us. And I promise to post something soon that has nothing to do with babies (we just have to get a life first).

Mom's in Trouble

...for posting about the gender of our babies on her blog before I got the chance to do it here! So for those of you who haven't gone poking around, and still get to hear the announcement from us- here you go...

Baby A is a definite male.

Baby B is still being quite shy, but the educated guess of all involved has revealed it to be a female. If we get a different result in a few weeks-joke's on you-we still get 2 kids :)

So we will have our share of emotions, and hormones and a good mix of He-Man and My Little Pony or whatever the equivalent of those are these days.

And we will need lots of support and advice from those of you who have dealt with either of the A or B variety.

I only have a picture announcing It's a Boy! and no It's a Girl! picture yet, but I have refrained from posting lest it be deemed as "creepy".

I don't know who is more excited-me (for obvious reasons), Ryan (who is thrilled not to have to bless 2 babies of the same gender), Annette (the only other girl in the family), Gpa Fitz (who is glad the Fitz name has a chance to continue), or Gma Jean (who will probably leave Gpa Clyde broke as she buys every cute baby thing known to man ((trying hard to be equal, but probably a bit more biased towards pink))).

And no, we don't have names!

"Not to Be Admired"

This just happens to be our family motto. Our crest also has an ugly boar on it which is why you won't see it proudly displayed in our home. But despite this, we are still proud to be able to say, "Kiss me, I'm Irish." So Happy St. Patty's Day everyone, and enjoy these pics from the homeland! (at least how it looked 2 years ago)
